Building an Ecosystem of Support for Young People Vulnerable to Violence

In communities where violence affects young lives, no single organisation can respond to the issue alone. Addressing the root causes requires a network of support, an ecosystem, where organisations work together to provide young people with the stability, opportunities, and care they need. This is why Juvenis is partnering with Ecosystem Coldharbour (via MLCE – ML Community Enterrise), bringing together expertise and resources to create real change.

What is an Ecosystem of Support?

An ecosystem of support means ensuring that young people have access to a range of services that meet their needs. Violence is rarely the problem, it’s often the symptom of deeper issues, such as trauma, exclusion from education, lack of safe spaces, or feeling unheard. An ecosystem approach recognises this by:

  • Providing multiple entry points – young people don’t all access help in the same way, some need a trusted youth worker, others connect through school, sports, or creative projects.
  • Offering a mix of support – from mentoring and mental health services to employment pathways and crisis intervention, a strong ecosystem ensures there’s the right kind of help at the right time.
  • Building trust and consistency – relationships matter. When different organisations work together, young people can experience continuity of care rather than being passed between disconnected services.

Why Juvenis and Ecosystem Coldharbour?

Juvenis takes a discreet and engaging approach to supporting young people, ensuring they don’t feel labelled or stigmatised. Ecosystem Coldharbour brings together grassroots youth organisations, schools, faith groups, and local businesses in Lambeth, all working towards safer communities.

Together, this partnership strengthens support for young people most at risk by:

  • Creating safer pathways – helping young people navigate challenges such as school exclusions, police interactions, and social services involvement.
  • Providing holistic support – combining practical help (like skills training) with emotional support (such as mentoring and therapy).
  • Challenging harmful narratives – instead of viewing young people as ‘problems’, the focus is on their strengths, talents, and potential.

A Collective Responsibility

If we want to reduce violence in our communities, we need to work together. No single service can meet the complex and challenging needs of young people, but an ecosystem can. Through this partnership, Juvenis and Ecosystem Coldharbour are helping to build a community where young people feel safe, supported, and empowered to shape their own futures.
